Produced Water Treatment Polishing System

A state of the art media absorption system for the removal of dispersed, dissolved and emulsified hydrocarbons, and dissolved heavy metals from produced water.

Excellent technical results in the removal of:

  • Aromatics (Benzene, Toluene & Xylene)
  • Free Oil
  • Emulsified Oil
  • PCB's
  • PAH
  • Phenols

Ross Deeptech Symons Process systems use a cellulose based granular media, impregnated with a powerful surfactant. It can absorb 50-200% of its own bodyweight of hydrocarbons, in particular, aromatics and phenols. It passes all current leachate tests (i.e. USEPA Paint filter test, acid leach test). It removes 99% of all emulsified and dissolved oils at one pass. Spent media can be used as combustible fuel. Bulk System Design with automated filling and emptying systems.

Ross Deeptech Symons RM25 absorption media offers many significant advantages over activated carbon:

1/3 to 1/2 the cost of
activated carbon

Ross Deeptech Symons recently delivered a package to Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. for treatment of produced water on their Malampaya gas platform. The system includes pre-filters and absorption vessels that may be operated on a duty/stand-by basis, or together in series or in parallel. The system is designed to reduce oil in water content to below 15mg/L. Design pressure is 12.5 bars at a flow rate of 15 m3/hr with a media change-out interval greater than 6 months.

Similar systems may be custom engineered to meet clients' requirements for design pressure, flowrate and change-out time in a wide variety of materials.

Sand Cleaning

A combined Sand Hydrocyclone, De-Oiling and Absorption System was delivered to an offshore clean-up contractor to remove oil from sand and water from FPSO storage tanks to meet environmental discharge requirements.

This featured a Krebs Cyclowash which enables the sand to be washed as it is separated form the process fluid, enabling faster throughput due to less wash recycles required.
